For true love to occur both parties must be mutually vulnerable. When one loves and the other doesn't--but is able to "make love" without loving--the counterfeit love becomes a huge mixed signal setting up a broken heart. Old-fashioned morality was there to protect the female for her more delicate and deep emotions! For there is nothing worse than unrequited love--where one is more vulnerable the relationship automatically becomes destructive, and when you add in modern married men having "girl friends" on the side--those they visit unchaperoned in their homes--the modern Christian female will be unequally yoked. [This whole thing's got me spooked]

Sex is the biggest way you get hooked to people, and thus chastity is the most important word saving you from losers. At this point of repentance, to get what you want you may have to reject most all you know: just keep specific helpers and all others, go! Your whole problem has been your associates to whom you mal-adapted with bad habits and probably wrong eating too, as evil spread out in concentric circles. Much of your "insanity" or "hysteria" was from acting out their demons!
There are some of you who have decided to spend time with the ungodly--to "witness"--but after a while witnessing hardly appears to be the focus. Regardless of your good intentions Paul warns about being yoked with such people: the Christian is described as "righteousness", "light", "Christ", "believer" and the "temple of the living God". The non-Christian is described as "unrighteousness/lawlessness", "darkness", "infidel" and "idols".
The wounded-gathering-thorns-syndrome occurs when Christians still hangout with non-believers or even perverts .
THERE IS NO COMPARISON
There is a black and white difference between the believer and unbeliever. Some falsely argue this verse refers to marriage but no, it's also FELLOWSHIP--who we spend time with: "For what fellowship has righteousness with lawlessness?" Fellowship ("metoche") means "participation, intercourse, fellowship--to share or participate, to be a partaker--companionship, company of equals or friends" Clearly, we are not to associate with unrepentant sinners.
Can an unbelieving friend possibly understand the spiritual things you are speaking about?
No, they cannot! For they are spiritually discerned.
1 Corinthians 2:12-16 "Now we have received not the spirit of the world but the Spirit who is from God that we might know the things that have been freely given to us by God. These things are not man's wisdom but what the Holy Spirit teaches. The natural man does not receive these things for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. But he who is spiritual judges all things, yet he himself is rightly judged by no one. For who has known the mind of the LORD that he may instruct Him?' But we have the mind of Christ."
Demon-negotiation creates fatigue, disease then death. This is the state you're in with false friends, fake Christians and churchists.
DIVINE MYSTERIES
No one can know the things of God but his Holy Spirit who makes known Divine Mysteries. We are not guided by worldly principles but get revelations from the Spirit of God. This is totally different from the affected oratory or enticing words of man's wisdom! The man of the world does not receive these things--the Pride of Carnal Reasoning is as much opposed to spirituality as the basest sensuality! The sanctified mind discerns the real beauties of holiness and has the greatest power of discerning and judging natural things. But the carnal man is a stranger to the Divine life so makes unsound judgments about natural things. He does inconvenient stupid things while God's man has the power of discovery: witty inventions!
God will protect you from the heathen but if you're a willing sycophant ("suckup") they can sure do a lot of damage in the meantime
God gives the knowledge of his will to the spiritual man only and nothing is known through natural power. In the Scriptures His mind is fully made known to us as our hearts are healed and we bear good fruit. Before we believed in Christ we were dead in our sins, not giving Jesus the glory--that is the spiritual life of your crazy boring associates!

Karen: Can hanging with care-less heathen ever enrich my life?
KK: Matthew 5:13 reads "You are the salt of the earth but if the salt loses its flavor it is good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men!" In an ungodly world the Holy Spirit sets us apart and Jesus warns us about becoming ungodly--by hanging with ungodly people. Unless the person is wanting to talk about God what can they say of any value? What did David, a man after God's own heart, think about the unbelievers around him?:

Does this verse say, "An unjust man is sort of bad, but all right to spend time with"? Does this verse say, "An unjust man is good to spend time with, as long as you make sure not to sin with them"? Absolutely not! The word abomination is a serious one! Paul says "Do not be deceived: Evil company corrupts good habits." 1 Corinthians 15:33
Anyone without justice--who can't discern between good and evil and for whom all things are good--is evil himself. Those who can easily adapt to an evil society must be evil themselves.
STAY PURE (UNADULTERATED BY IDOLATROUS MORTALS) !
No matter how high, powerful and impervious you think you are, you aren't if you hang out/give credence to or listen to your silly empty friends you think have value--for they do not. The Lord says:

What The Lord Said to Me

Would you rather I be disappointed? Shall I not protect and provide for those who commit to my care in their days of solitude?

Do you think the habits of your friends and family rub off on you? Sinful habits and attitudes can even be passed to you from your Christian friends insofar as they are part of the world--and that is a big problem especially in the churches. There are 160 million churchgoers in this country: if they were truly of God we wouldn't have the porn problems etc that we do. I tell you being a true Christian entails a lot of sweet solitude and precious privacy. Because if we value someone enough to spend time with them we will listen to them and ultimately become like them.

YOKED Definition
from Latin "to join": The bible uses beasts of burden as an example. A wooden bar or frame by which two draft animals (as oxen) are joined at the heads or necks for working together. If a donkey and an ox are yoked together the yoke will weigh heavily on one animal while choking the other, or as the animal with the longer stride moves ahead it will painfully drag the other along by the neck! They would not be able to pull smoothly or painlessly together and little work would get done.
DON'T YOU WANT TO PULL TOGETHER?
But when two animals of approximately the same size and weight are yoked together they pull the plow smoothly, helping each other and work is accomplished.
SPIRITUALLY:
Becoming attached to a person who does not share your faith can be just as painful and counterproductive--whether attached financially (as in a business partnership) or emotionally (as a spouse) you are connected to someone who cannot pull equally with you in life.
THE HEATHEN ARE BITTER COLD AND SPIRITUALLY DEAD
How'd it get like this--were you ignorant of your potential spouse's spiritual condition, did you never ask him about his beliefs? Or did he misrepresent himself by telling you he was a Christian when he wasn't (or that he was straight, when he was gay)? Was he really just a churchgoer who wanted to be seen or repair his image? Did you sense evident darkness in this person (like a churchgoer who was into porn) but ignore this red light all because he "goes to church" ? Then who can you blame but yourself?
But His Yoke is Easy and His Burden is Light:

Never compromise with people (crazy neighbors, friends and kin) or you'll be worshipping their Gods (idols) and living their ways--making your mind cluttered, carnal and in a haze. So NEVER give them an edge--that's your only hedge!
